62% of consumers who changed their spending habits due to the current

The price increases that Mexico has suffered in the last year, and although they have slowed down in recent months , have had consequences for consumers and companies. In a series of articles, Capterra addresses different aspects of this situation.

The information presented in this report can help SMEs identify current consumer trends and decide or devise different strategies that they can shopping data   implement, such as creating new products based on price optimization or developing programs to facilitate payments.

For this report, Capterra conducted an online interview with 1,015 people in April 2023. The selection criteria for participants was as follows: they must be residents of Mexico, between the ages of 18 and 65, and be responsible for or share household expenses (services and products).

9 out of 10 consumers have changed their spending behavior due to the current economic situation

The survey conducted for this report included questions that referred to “the current economic situation.” It was specified that this situation refers to the context of rising prices (inflation) and a possible economic recession, which can cause a contraction in the economy, an increase in the unemployment rate, a stagnation of wages and a reduction in people’s ability to gather the money they need to cover their expenses.

Given the current economic situation mentioned in the survey, 90% of consumers participating in the study say that their spending behavior has changed. The other 10% say that they have not changed, and that they are behaving as usual.
