I worked for about ten years in social sectors, for public administrations and associations. After having gone through this experience, I wanted to embark on a professional reconversion project in IT development. I have always had a strong appetite for web technologies, but I initially considered this field more as a distraction, before becoming a professional to make this passion my new job.
You are currently working as a front-end web developer. What is your role and what are your daily tasks?
I take care of everything related to
the appearance of a website. I work with 3 languages mainly, namely HTML, CSS and JavaScript, which is the skill most required for this job. I intervene on the construction of the site, which I will develop from A to Z, from a model, in particular for associations or local traders who need a showcase page. The objective is to help them present their activities and increase their visibility, while producing a site easily.
What do you think is the difference between working as a freelancer and in a company?

In a company, the site on which I will make my contribution is often already developed. The scope of intervention is narrower, and the development environment is more complex.
I will mainly be required to resolve bugs, analyze what was typed by another developer in order to understand their logic, and adjust their code if necessary based on problems reported by a client or users. I will also code to add features, solve graphical problems, while avoiding side effects.
What are the essential qualities for those
who would like to follow the same path as you?
Retraining in this field requires time and investment. You have to be curious, ask yourself questions all the time, and enjoy doing a from links on other websites lot of research before finding the solution to a technical problem.
